Titanium FaceMask

Fit/Form/Function of the titanium facemask is awesome. Reduced the overall weight of the helmet system by nearly half a pound. My son noticed a huge difference in overall strain on his neck during practices and games. I do have two issues with the Ti Facemask. One, there was a very sharp, pronounced burr from one of the bottom welds poking through the paint dip which kept cutting into my sons hand every time he went to put his mouth guard in. This proved problematic after a week of daily practice. The solution was to do som light file work to deburr the spot, but this did compromise the paint slightly. Second issue is the durability of the red dip paint us pretty fragile compared to other facemask dips used by other big name brands. With two weeks of use the facemask looks like it has been through 3x high school seasons. I am hoping that Light Helmets will have a facemask inspection/repaint/recertification program for all facemasks here in the near future because my sons is definitely going to need it after this first season with the apache helmet system w/Ti facemask. Overall though, the reduction in weight and tech going into the helmet is truly impressive.
