What are the safety ratings for LIGHT Helmets?
All LIGHT Helmets are NOCSAE approved and part of the NFL/NFLPA’s “Recommended Helmets” list for the 2025-26 season. The Apache, Gladiator, and LS2 all earned 5-star ratings from Virginia Tech, with the Apache scoring the highest of any helmet ever tested.
How is the Light Helmet different from other football helmets?
LIGHT Helmets are up to 40% lighter than traditional helmets and built using advanced materials from auto racing and military tech. Unlike other helmets that just redirect impact, ours absorb it through proprietary Armor Foam, composite and nylon shells, and chromoly facemasks. They improve safety, reduce fatigue, and allow players to perform at their best.
Does anyone wear your helmet in the NFL?
LIGHT Helmets have multiple models that have passed the rigorous NFLPA/NFL testing and have been dignified as NFLPA/NFL "Recommended Helmets" for the 2025-26 season. It is currently being used in all 32 NFL locker rooms.
What is the shipping timeframe?
Shipping timeframes are dependent on the helmet model you order. Below is an estimated time frame before your helmet ships:
Apache, Apache Lightning, Gladiator ATK: 25–30 business days
LS2 Varsity & Youth : 5–7 business days (standard colors only)
LS2 Custom color helmets : 15–20 business days
CAN I EXCHANGE THE HELMET FOR A DIFFERENT SIZE:
Yes, exchanges are accepted within 30 days from date of shipment. The customer will be sent an email with details for the exchange.

Is there a warranty on LIGHT Helmets?
Yes. All LIGHT Helmets include a 5-year warranty on the shell from the date of shipment. Reconditioning is required every 2 years and this covers defects in materials or workmanship under normal use. It does not cover:
- Damage from misuse, drops, or impact outside of normal play
- Unauthorized modifications or repairs
- Normal wear and tear
To submit a warranty claim, contact us with your order number, photos of the issue, and a description of the problem. We’ll evaluate your claim and determine next steps.
What is your return policy?
You may return your helmet within 30 days of the shipment date, as long as it is unused and in original condition.
- A 15% restocking fee will apply.
- Shipping charges are non-refundable.
- To initiate a return, please email our support team with your order number.
- Customer is responsible for return shipping.
WHY CAN’T I SELECT EXPEDITED SHIPPING ON YOUR WEBSITE?
Expedited shipping is available only once your helmet is built. Contact us for a quote and we’ll send an invoice for upgraded shipping.

How do I clean my helmet?
Regularly cleaning and maintaining your helmet is crucial in preventing bacterial growth as well as removing dirt and dust buildup.
- Remove all pads and chinstrap
- Wipe helmet and pads with a cloth dipped in mild soapy water
- Rinse with water-only cloth
- Do not soak parts or use harsh chemicals
- Avoid damaging decals during cleaning
- Routine cleaning prevents odor and ensures safety by revealing damage early.
How do I clean the EPP foam liner (Apache Lightning & LS2)?
Use soap and water, dry thoroughly, then press firmly for 5–10 seconds when reapplying adhesives.
How can I convince my coach to let me wear a LIGHT Helmet?
Our helmets improve performance and reduce fatigue while saving teams money through reconditioning and resizability. Unlike many competitors, our shells can be resized and refurbished, helping programs avoid overbuying and extending equipment life.
Can I order a custom color or design?
Yes. Most single-color paints carry a nominal fee. Contact us if you’d like to discuss a custom paint job or send in a sample shell/swatch for accuracy.
My team uses a different brand. Can I still wear a LIGHT Helmet?
Yes. All LIGHT Helmets are NOCSAE certified and Virginia Tech 5-star rated, making them legal for competition at all levels.
Are your helmets NOCSAE certified?
Yes, every LIGHT Helmet model meets or exceeds NOCSAE certification standards.
Why do you charge a 15% restocking fee?
Each helmet is made to order. Our restocking fee is consistent with industry standards. Shipping fees are non-refundable.
