Son never played tackle, just pylon and flag. Come 9th grade, we had to pick a helmet for real JV football. After doing some research, we concluded the Apache would be the way to go. He’s about 5’7 130lbs. A bit skinny. When the helmet came in, it looked amazing! Looked sort of big on him, but with some minor adjustment with the provided inserts, we had a good fit. I still remember when he took his first big shot. Went into the air to catch a high ball, LB hit em and his body went sideways at what looked 6 feet in the air. He came crashing down on his back and back of helmet hit the ground hard. Wife and I held our breath. Almost instantly he came back up, shrugged it off and went back to the line. He went on to score 3 td’s that game! To sum it up, the helmet is noticeably lighter than other helmets in the market. The outer shell does have some give to it, which I think is by design. The inside individual shocks are a great concept, but more importantly, they work. He took some shots this year, but more importantly, he went concussions free. This helmet helps me and the wife sleep at night. Safety is, and will always be, the number one priority for our athletes.
