(May 19, 2019) – Orders of LIGHT Helmets LS1 Composite Varsity football helmet are now shipping to consumers after the company has officially received its National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE) certification. NOCSAE develops performance standards for protective equipment used in a variety of sports.
LIGHT Helmets have redefined how a football helmet should look, feel and act, and the NOCSAE certification comes on the heels of a Five Star rating from the Virginia Tech Helmet Lab.
“All the helmet companies have to pass the tests to be worn on the field, and with our NOCSAE certification we are ready to put our LIGHT Helmets onto the heads of football players at all levels,” Nick Esayian, LIGHT Helmets CEO, said. “The tests only tell part of the story. All models of LIGHT Helmets, from the LS1 Composite Varsity helmet to the LS1 Youth Composite and LS1 Youth Polycarbonate helmets, utilize technology developed in the military and in motorsports. In addition to Armor Foam, all models incorporate the only commercially available auxetic foam on the market as a component of the liner, exclusively from military manufacturer Auxadyne (winner of the NFL’s Head Health Tech Challenge VI), and come standard with SportsStar chin straps.
