I don’t typically take the time to write reviews but the Light Apache youth helmet definitely lives up to all the hype. This is my 11 year old son’s 4th year of tackle football. He is small for his age, but from day one has always been an extremely aggressive player. He plays running back and outside linebacker every fall in our local tackle league and in the spring on a select tackle team. We usually switch his helmet out every season with a specific helmet (without naming names the most commonly used helmet in college and the NFL). I always bought this particular helmet because of reviews and the thought that if it’s good enough for elite athletes at that level it has to be good enough for my son. I was about to buy this seasons helmet when I found the Virginia Tech helmet rankings and saw how much the Light Apache rankings crushed what I have always historically purchased. I ordered the Light Apache, and now halfway through my son’s Spring season playing some of the toughest youth teams in Texas my son has nothing but positive things to say. He says it doesn’t even feel like he’s wearing a helmet, and he has no more headaches after punishing hits. Overall I highly recommend this helmet, and have nothing but positive things to say about this product (also they have very responsive customer service there was a slight delay in receiving the helmet due to a delay in some of the components and customer service responded to my emails within hours of me sending an inquiry). Great product and company!!!

First I want to say we were super impressed with the turn around time. We were initially told 4-5 weeks. We received our helmet in 2 weeks and a couple days! Second, customer service has been incredible. We did an online fitting before we ever ordered because my son was between a medium and a large at 22 inches. We're so glad they told us to size down, it fits like a glove. Packaging is great. My son loves the way the helmets fits and how light it feels. The chin strap is a little wide but he likes how padded it is.

Turn around time was shorter than expected, which was nice. Helmet looks great and is lighter than all the others we looked at. Unfortunately my son fell on the line between youth medium and youth large with the Apache (he is youth large in others), so we went with the youth large. Thankfully we were able to purchase and install shims for a better fit, which will also allow for him to use it longer as he grows.

We did encounter a small issue with the virtual fitting. They were only available until 3pm which doesn’t work with kids being in school, so we had to make adjustments via feedback through email (did not see virtual fittings available on weekends). Customer service responded quickly and provided good feedback, so it was a smooth process.

The Customer service team was very helpful in exchanging the liner for the correct size when I ordered the wrong size. It now fits perfect and is extremely comfortable.
